I launched this site last week. If you’re ever in the north NJ area looking for awesome beer definitely stop by TapHouse Grille. This was probably the fastest I’ve ever designed, coded and launched a site. It went from proposal to completion in four week nights.
The paint is still drying in some areas, hoping to add features in the future!

Having lots of fun designing the simplest of icons.

RealDirect 404 page :D

RealDirect 404 page :D

Just launched a new design for RealDirect’s homepage. I started working for RealDirect about 2 months ago and this is the biggest project I’ve worked on to date. I’m really happy with the outcome. Got to work in some subtle CSS3 transitions, a cool jQuery slideshow and some really nice hover styles.
Take a look, and if you’re involved in NYC real estate this is definitely a company you should know about!

Launched this bad boy over the weekend.
The tri-state area has become a little hotbed for vintage two stroke enthusiasts recently. The Oily Pipes Gang is definitely the largest club in the area. I was glad I could help them develop a nice little site that shows off their members and some of the services they offer.
This is one of the more graphical sites I’ve done in a while, definitely a switch from my usual very minimal aesthetic. I love the background, it’s reminiscent of my youth pouring over microfiches for hours looking at how things go together.

I launched this site last night. Anthem Sandwich shop. A punk-rock themed deli located in Denville New Jersey, it’s guaranteed to be the most badass sandwich shop this side of the Hudson. Owner and chef Tom Pollio is simply not to be fucked with in the kitchen.
Design-nerd things learned here:
@font-face sucks. The world isn’t ready. Could be awesome, could be wonderful, but failed in the browsers I wanted to support for this site. I tried it out for the menu and contact headings but image replacement still won out in the end. Also, most free fonts are very poorly constructed and render terribly browser to browser.
Fireworks rocks Photoshop at saving PNGs. By simply opening my PNGs, tweaking the Optimize palette and resaving from Fireworks I typically saw an 80% reduction in file size. Well worth it; this site relied heavily on the file format.
Keeping the design feeling grungy while still selling sandwiches is a tough aesthetic. Keeping the colors warm definitely helped with this.
I really like the single page trend. I definitely see it gaining a lot of traction for small businesses in the future.
Anthem should be open within the next few weeks. So if you’re in the Denville area be sure to stop by, check out some Rancid and Social D posters and let Tommy kick your teeth in with his short rib grilled cheese.

If stoners had a political party, this would be their logo. I’m feeling the itch to do a mega-awesome vector illustration again soon.
